BCLC to shake up gambling at Vancouver Startup Week Hackathon21/09/2016
All it takes is one good idea to create the next big startup or new game and BCLC has joined forces with the Vancouver Startup Week (VSW) Hackathon to make this happen.
The VSW Hackathon is taking place September 23-25 when 250 innovators, developers, designers, entrepreneurs and marketers will come together at Telus Garden to compete in teams to create Vancouver’s next big startup. Participants will have 48 hours to build the best, smartest and most impactful new app that will solve challenges or serve a need in the community.
In addition to the overall challenge of creating the next big startup, BCLC will issue a challenge of its own to participants: shake up gambling by creating the next innovative game.
Huan Ho, Tech Developer and co-chair VSW Hackathon
“I’m passionate about bringing the Vancouver Startup Week Hackathon to life because I came up with the concept for my San Francisco-based company, Rallyteam, at a hackathon – where all I needed was the creative spark to start this fire. I want to see other people pursue their ideas and dreams and ultimately, come up with startups that can make communities and businesses better.”
Jim Lightbody, President and CEO, BCLC
“BCLC is partnering with the Vancouver Startup Week Hackathon because we believe in the concept at the heart of the event, which is to bring people together to innovate and create content. Innovation is incredibly important to BCLC’s future and I look forward to seeing the ideas and connections that come out of the 48 hour competition.”
The VSW Hackathon will kick off at 5:30pm on Friday, September 23. Members of the media can RSVP to cover the Vancouver Startup Week Hackathon by contacting BCLC Media Relations.
