Blood donor gets ‘Extra’ thanks24/03/2014
When she heard the winning jingle and saw the look on the retailer’s face, Elaine Fitch knew she must have won something. But when she saw the number $500,000 she thought she’d been ‘Punk’d’ and looked around in disbelief expecting cameras and friends to admit their joke. But it was no joke.
Fitch was on her way home from donating blood when she discovered she had matched all four Extra numbers in the March 14th Lotto Max draw for a win of half a million dollars.
Fitch bought her Lotto Max ticket as part of a Big Jackpot Pack at the Mason Store, Shawnigan Lake.
“Winning has been an incredible experience,” she smiles. “It’s good karma coming back my way! I’m just speechless.”
Fitch plans to pay off her house and trailer before overhauling her father-in-law’s 1969 Mustang. The rest will go into savings. “I’m really excited to spend some of this money restoring a vehicle with a lot of sentimental value,” she says.
The March 14th draw had four major winners in B.C. Three of which remain unspoken for, the largest being the $50 Million jackpot ticket, purchased in Langley. A winning ticket for $333,333.40 purchased in Port Alberni remains unclaimed as does a $1,000,000 ticket purchased in Surrey.
Say ‘Yes’ to the Extra for the chance to win up to $500,000. Extra is available with Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max, and BC/49 at any BCLC lottery retailer or at PlayNow.com.
