Vancouver couple seeing turquoise after Set for Life win

Crystal Dawn Shaubel and Shiela Ante of Vancouver stepped into the Esso station on Kingsway in Burnaby for some gas and coffee, and stepped out with a Set for Life winning ticket worth $675,000.

It was a turquoise coloured Set for Life ticket Shaubel had her eye on when she entered the store, and it turned out to be a grand prize winner during their car ride.

“We were still driving at this time, so we were driving all over the place and couldn’t remember how to get to where we were going anymore,” laughed Shaubel.

The couple plans to tell their families first about the win and then have a big celebration.

“We’ll celebrate with family and friends and do a little dance, too,” exclaimed Shaubel.

While the win hasn’t sunk in yet for Shaubel and Ante, they plan to use their winnings to pay off student loans, their mortgage and give to charity.

The pair also plans to keep playing Set for Life.

“Yah, we will still play Set for Life. Shiela wants to buy the red ticket next,” smiled Shaubel.

Every time a Scratch & Win ticket is purchased in B.C., it funds programs across the province

Set for Life is the Scratch & Win game that offers players the chance to win a top prize of $1,000 a week for 25 years.
