Happy Holidays for Extra winners

Penny and Marlin Primrose will have a very happy holiday season this year after they said ‘Yes’ to the Extra and won $500,000!

The Nanaimo couple purchased their ticket at the Save on Foods in the Country Club Mall for the November 29th draw. Penny and Marlin don’t typically play the lottery but Marlin decided to try a Quick Dip package which includes two Lotto 6/49 tickets and the Extra.

When he went to the gas station to validate, Marlin self-checked his ticket three or four times before the retailer validated it. Marlin didn’t believe his eyes!

“I’m very excited and I’m very nervous about all those zeros,” said Penny.

Marlin and Penny are planning on using the winnings to pay down debt and buy a house.

Marlin says he and Penny feel extremely grateful they purchased the winning ticket.

“We realize that there are faces, stories, and lives behind every Canadian who purchased a ticket for this draw and are feeling humbled that we were the winners,” said Marlin. “May the coming year be as kind to the rest of Canada.”

Say ‘Yes’ to the Extra for the chance to win up to $500,000. Extra is available with Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max, and BC/49 at any BCLC lottery retailer or at

Another major win from the March 14, 2014 draw has yet to be claimed. A $50 million ticket sold in Langley, B.C. remains unclaimed and is a tie for the largest prize ever won in B.C.
