Kelowna Lotto 6/49 $21.9 million winner to ‘live the life he’s always wanted’22/02/2016
Kelowna resident, Robert Goertzen feels that 21 is a special number for him after winning a whopping $21.9 million on the February 20, 2016 Lotto 6/49 draw.
“My lottery ticket package was $21 dollars and I discovered I won $21.9 million on February 21st,” exclaimed an elated Goertzen.
The 44 year-old Heavy Equipment Instructor from Kelowna says a hush fell over the Superstore when he checked his winning ticket. And that’s when everything changed for him.
“I felt famous! Everyone was coming up to me to congratulate me and to take a photo of me and the lottery screen,” recalled Goertzen.
Despite knowing what it truly feels like to be on “Cloud 6/49”, Goertzen says he will continue to work but he does have a few ideas on how to spend his winnings.
“I’m going to buy a diesel truck and a new 5th wheel trailer for myself and a Jeep for my girlfriend and of course, I’ll pay off my debt,” smiled Goertzen. “I also want to help my child with her future and provide the best education money can buy.”
Goertzen says he still can’t believe that he’s a lottery winner and says he will continue to play Lotto 6/49 and purchase tickets when he’s grocery shopping – it’s part of his weekly routine.
“This win means freedom -- to be free from debt and have the life I’ve always wanted,” said a grateful Goertzen.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Real Canadian Superstore on Baron Road in Kelowna, where Goertzen is a regular.
Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Players can purchase tickets at any lottery retailer or at PlayNow.com until 7:30pm PT.
