A kitchen renovation upgrade in store for Osoyoos Lotto Max winner

Odile Alarie was purchasing Halloween candy when she checked her Lotto Max ticket and discovered she won $632,986 after matching 6/7 numbers plus the bonus on the October 23, 2015 draw.

“Originally, my husband was disgruntled when I called him over to the self-check machine because he didn’t want to lose his place in line,” laughed Alarie. But the mood quickly changed when Alarie explained she was holding a winning Lotto Max ticket.

“This is such a unique experience. I was shaking in the store but my husband remained calm,” said Alarie.

The Osoyoos resident has been playing Lotto Max since its launch but admits she doesn’t have a list of items to buy because she never thought she would actually win big.

“We plan on banking most of our winnings but we are in the midst of a kitchen renovation and we couldn’t decide between a regular countertop and a quartz countertop,” explained Alarie. “This win has now made our decision very easy and we’ve decided to spend more on our renovation.”

Alarie says playing Lotto Max is part of her weekly routine and it’s one that she will continue. In fact, she has already purchased her ticket for this Friday’s $55 million Lotto Max draw.

The winning ticket was purchased at Pharmasave in Osoyoos. Every time a lottery ticket is purchased in B.C., it funds programs across the province. Learn more here

Lotto Max can be played at all lottery retailers and online at, with tickets available until 7:30pm (PT) on Friday.
