Mark Prior wins $675,000 with Set for Life Scratch & Win

Last Set for Life ticket proves to be a jackpot winner

New Westminster resident Mark Prior thought he was out of luck when he wanted to buy a Set for Life Scratch & Win ticket but the store was sold out. He was just about to walk out of the door when the store clerk found one ticket, which turned out to be a jackpot winner. Now he’s $675,000 richer and set for life!

“The man running the store said that they were out and just as I was about to leave he found one, the last one,” Prior recalls. “How crazy is that? The last ticket.”

Prior told his wife he had a big surprise and to gather all the kids together. “When he finally came home, we were all sitting at the table and he causally sits down and is very coy and relaxed and then pulls out the ticket and validation stub and says ‘I won Set for Life’!,” his wife Elaine exclaimed. “I think we were all in shock! It still seems surreal.”

The winning ticket purchased at a grocery store at West 24th Avenue and Macdonald Street in Vancouver.

Prior started playing Set for Life a few weeks ago, after a good friend of his had a winning ticket. He opted to take the lump sum of $675,000 and plans to take a holiday and pay down debt.

The Set for Life Scratch & Win game offers players the chance to win a top prize of $1,000 a week for 25 years or $675,000.
