New Horizons in Responsible Gambling Conference Welcomes Global Industry Experts

01/02/2016

Specialists and innovators from the international responsible and problem gambling community are gathering in Vancouver, British Columbia for the 4th annual New Horizons in Responsible Gambling conference, February 2 - 3, 2016.

This year’s conference features 30 guest speakers, including two keynote speakers:

  • Dr. Carl Hart, renowned Neuroscientist and Associate Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at Columbia University, who will be presenting on what we have learned from drugs and addiction and how we can apply those lessons to gambling; and
  • Tom Moseman, Senior Vice President of Envirosell Inc., a multi-national consumer behaviour research and consulting firm. Pairing research results with his extensive experience, Tom will discuss how location, design and display of responsible gambling information in a casino impacts the player’s perception of responsible gambling programs.

Other speaker highlights include Dr. Ingo Fiedler from the University of Hamburg and Dr. Brett Abarbanel from the University of California covering topics related to the dynamic world of online gaming and eSports; Dr. Douglas Walker from the College of Charleston, discussing the role of "win limits"; Dr. Luke Clark, Director of the UBC Centre for Gambling Research, presenting on classic cognitive distortions associated with gambling; psychologist Dr. Richard Wood on the effectiveness of a responsible gambling strategy; and Dr. Jon Kelly, CEO of Canada’s Responsible Gambling Council, sharing what he has learned over the past 20 years.

Drawing from leading research from both local and global perspectives, this annual conference attracts an impressive line-up of thought-leaders and industry experts, in addition to a diverse audience of researchers, industry representatives, prevention specialists, and treatment specialists.
