Responsible Gambling Conference week

New sponsorship highlights community health and wellness

BCLC has announced the Community Sponsorship for Health and Wellness as part of Responsible Gambling Awareness Week in Langley.

The new sponsorship is available to non-profit organizations working to promote health, wellness, and healthy choices within their community. Recipients of the sponsorship will receive $5,000 towards their continued work to expand or enhance their programs.

Interested organizations should be working to promote healthy behaviours and communities, but do not need to be in a gambling-related field.

“The sponsorship is a way for BCLC to demonstrate its commitment to healthy communities,” said Susan Dolinski, Vice President Communications and Social Responsibility. “Encouraging healthy choices ties directly into our approach to promoting responsible gambling in our gaming facilities and in the community.”

Responsible Gambling Awareness Week 2014 is being hosted in Kamloops, Langley, Greater Victoria, Richmond, Prince George and Vernon. There will be one sponsorship available in each community. The deadline for applications is June 30, 2014 and recipients will be announced in the fall. Application forms can be found online at

Responsible Gambling Awareness Week was created to raise the profile of responsible play and raise awareness of the problem gambling support services available in the community.
