Safeway Workers win big on the Extra

A group of 13 workers at a Richmond Safeway are very excited after Terry Lynn Nichols purchased a Lotto 6/49 ticket for the group and said ‘Yes’ to the Extra – leading to a $500,000 win!

Terry Lynn Nichols, who represents the group of 13 co-workers in trust, purchased the ticket at the convenience store at Blundell and Garden City in Richmond for the December 12th draw. Nichols went to the same store she always purchases at and bought $65 worth of Quick Pick Lotto 6/49 tickets.

When Nichols, who runs the lottery group with a good friend, validated the ticket she “started freaking out.”

“I was pacing around the store and turned to the person beside me to ask if I was really seeing $500,000.” Nichols said.

Nichols promptly called everyone in the group, who are all very excited.

“They’re all really good people,” said Nichols. “We’ve worked together for years and years.”

Nichols says she plans to pay off some debt, do some shopping and do some traveling with her portion of the prize. Each group member will receive more than $38,000.

Say ‘Yes’ to the Extra for the chance to win up to $500,000. Extra is available with Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max, and BC/49 at any BCLC lottery retailer or at

Another major win from the March 14, 2014 draw has yet to be claimed. A $50 million ticket sold in Langley, B.C. remains unclaimed and is a tie for the largest prize ever won in B.C
