Smithers-based grandmother is Set For Life

A split decision to purchase a Set For Life rather than a Crossword Scratch & Win proved to be the right call for Smithers resident, Wendy Leiterman.

A grandmother of five, Leiterman was running an errand with one of her grandchildren when she stopped at the local Petro Canada gas station. It was there she purchased four Scratch & Win tickets, including the Set For Life that would win her $675,000.

“I never in my wildest dreams thought I would win,” exclaimed Leiterman. “I took it home and I was scratching it by the fireplace and when I realized I had won, I ran upstairs to tell my husband. His jaw nearly hit the floor!”

Just hours after discovering the win, Leiterman booked a flight to join her siblings and mother in Scotland; a trip she previously declined because it was too expensive. Leiterman quickly took to social media to excitedly share the news with friends that she was going to Scotland because “dreams do come true.”

Aside from travelling, Leiterman plans on buying a new truck, renovating her home and sharing some of her winnings with her family.

The Set for Life Scratch & Win offers players the chance to win a top prize of $1,000 a week for 25 years or a lump sum of $675,000.
