Chilliwack man is ‘Set for Life’ thanks to birthday gift from mom

David Brereton of Chilliwack got more than he wished for when his mother gave him a Set for Life ticket for his birthday.

The ticket was a winner and the Chilliwack man is now $675,000 richer.

“I scratched the ticket and checked it on the Lotto! App,” recalled Brereton. “The app said it was the big winner. I showed my wife and we got really excited!”

Brereton says he feels a sense of relief as the win slowly sinks in.

“This win means a lot,” smiled Brereton. “I’m going to pay off some debt, help my children and take a much needed vacation!”

The winning Set for Life ticket was purchased at Save-On-Foods in Williams Lake.

Every time a Scratch & Win ticket is purchased in B.C., it funds programs across the province. Learn more here. BCLC offers socially responsible gambling entertainment while generating income to benefit all British Columbians. Remember, play for fun, not to make money. For more information visit
