Yukon winner can chase dreams now that he’s ‘Set for Life’

William Kane was visiting Vancouver from Haines Junction, Yukon when he won a free Set for Life Ticket. Little did he know a much bigger win was in store for him.

“I was on the phone with my cell phone provider when I scratched the free ticket,” recounted Kane. “I couldn’t contain my excitement. I told the lady on the phone, ‘I just won $675,000!’”

Kane won the $675,000 Set for Life grand prize and calls it the best moment of his life. He says the win will allow him to pursue his dreams.

“I can start my own business and buy better tools for my carvings. My wife always wanted to buy a hotdog stand and we can do that now,” exclaimed Kane.

He also plans to use his winnings to help out his community.

“I’d like to buy a fishing boat and a truck,” smiled Kane. “We hunt and fish for our elders so our community will also benefit from this!”

The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-ELEVEN on Broadway at Manitoba Street in Vancouver.

Every time a lottery ticket is purchased in B.C., it funds programs across the province. Learn more here. Remember, play for fun, not to make money. For more information visit
