Peter Charlton

Peter Charlton

Vice-President, Human Resources

Peter provides strategic guidance and advice in Human Resources and oversees all aspects relating to BCLC's 800+ workforce, including employee relations, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, compensation and talent management.

Peter began his career in the UK with the British Government and then led Human Resources for the African operation of Oce, a Dutch company employing more than 28,000 employees across the region. He later joined American Express (Amex) as their Director of Management Development for Europe, Middle East and Africa, where he was responsible for the update of the Human Resources Development strategy before moving to Canada to provide the HR support necessary to refocus the Canada business back to its core financial products. Peter left Amex to become a founding partner in a Toronto-based HR consulting practice and focused on the banking, industrial and mining sectors. He was with them for 12 years before joining UNISYS in 2001 with responsibility for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India and ultimately Talent Management globally.

Peter combines a Clinical Psychology background with a PhD in Organizational Psychology. He has served as an associate lecturer in Human Resource Management at the Open University, taught the MBA course at Oxford University and the leadership program at INSEAD Business School, and has his Certified Human Resources Professional designation.
