Prince George’s Brittany Hammell is the latest winner of the Powerbucks™ progressive jackpot, worth $1.06 million.
Hammell won the national jackpot on August 20, 2019 while playing the Wheel of Fortune ® Hawaiian Getaway slot machine at Treasure Cove Casino.
“I didn’t believe it at first,” says Hammell. “I was just in shock at the time. To be honest, it still hasn’t quite kicked in yet.”
Hammell is the second Prince George resident to win the Powerbucks progressive jackpot in just over a month, after another player playing a different machine at Treasure Cove won a record-breaking $2.1 million on July 13, the largest slot prize in B.C. history.
“It feels good to win,” says Hammell, who adds that life won’t change much for her family. “I think our family will look into buying a house and helping to set up the future for our family.”
The odds of winning the Powerbucks jackpot on a $3 wager are approximately 1 in 25 million. Since every spin of a machine is random, the odds of winning the jackpot anywhere is the same with every spin.
Players have a chance to win Powerbucks™ $1 million or more progressive jackpot online or in casinos, which grows as more people place bets across other participating Canadian jurisdictions, including Manitoba, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and P.E.I. A portion of every wager gets added to the progressive jackpot until it’s won. Several slot games offer a progressive jackpot at gambling and entertainment facilities in B.C. This is the 12th Powerbucks progressive jackpot winner in Canada since the game launched in 2016.
Created by International Game Technology (IGT), BCLC was the first Canadian jurisdiction to offer Powerbucks™ to its players.
BCLC offers socially responsible gaming entertainment while generating income to benefit all British Columbians. Remember, play for fun, not to make money. For more information, visit GameSense.com.
