South Surrey Resident Buys a Pizza, Wins $2 Million BC/49 Prize

There’s an old saying that patience is a virtue. For Anita Snyder, waiting for her pizza order led to a $2 million jackpot win for BC/49’s June 26, 2019 draw.

“It was a 20 minute wait for the pizza to be ready,” says Snyder. “The woman [at the London Drugs at Morgan Crossing] said there was a new $30 Weekly Pack for all the draws, so I thought I’d try it.”

Snyder says she was at home in the kitchen when she scanned her ticket on the Lotto! app and discovered she had matched all six numbers.

“The only reason I scanned the ticket was because I was changing my purse before I left for lunch. I ran in to my husband’s room and asked him if he could see the $2 million too. I think I screamed … We had to call BCLC because it didn’t feel real.”

Snyder and her husband are both from Montreal, but have called South Surrey home since 2001. While the couple is still processing the big win, potential plans are already underway for a visit back to Montreal, a bottle of champagne and a business investment.
