Coquitlam Lotto Max Winner Checks Out of the Grocery Store with More Than $500K

Winner poses with cheque

Jamie Rennie will always remember this particular trip to the grocery store, as he left with a winning ticket worth $506,058.30 after matching six numbers and the bonus from the Lotto Max draw on October 6, 2020.

Rennie, who claimed his prize using BCLC’s alternate prize-claim process, was shopping at Save-On-Foods on Lougheed Highway in Coquitlam, where he purchased and checked the ticket.

He said that he has been playing Lotto Max for quite a few years and plays numbers that have a special meaning to him: birthdates.

“The first thought that crossed my mind was disbelief,” said Rennie. “I could not believe it!”

The Coquitlam resident couldn’t wait to tell his girlfriend the good news, who also was in disbelief, repeatedly asking Rennie if he was sure he won.

Rennie says this win feels “amazing” and is considering using his winnings towards purchasing a condo, which has been at the top of his bucket list.

“This win means a lot to me,” he said.
