Salmon Arm Lottery Winner Credits His Win to “Max” The Dog

Salmon Arm resident Neil Piper is celebrating his second big lottery win after winning $500,000 from the March 24, 2020 Lotto Max draw

Piper, who purchased his ticket at the Salmon Arm Chevron, says his string of good fortune can be partly credited to his beloved dog, Max, as he bases his number choices on him.

Piper, who claimed his winnings using BCLC’s temporary alternate prize-claim process, won $100,000 once before, and continues to play his favourite Lotto Max out of memory for Max. “I like playing Lotto Max because my dog's name was Max, so this helps me remember him,” explains Piper.

He learned of his most recent win at home after checking his ticket results on the BCLC Lotto! App.

“I put the ticket away and went to work like nothing had happened. I wasn't sure what to think of it, so it was nice to have some time to think about it”, says Piper. Once it had sunk in, the first to tell was his Dad and friend at work. In disbelief that he had won for a second time, Piper scanned the ticket once more on the BCLC Lotto! App in front of them.

The first item on the bucket list for Neil is a house. “It feels great. I get to buy the house of my dreams. It is a strange feeling! I enjoyed seeing all those zeros pop up on my phone!”
