Snack Stop Leads to “Incredible” $675K Win for Anmore Man

Bernard Scrivener receives his $675,000 Set for Life prize.

An unplanned snack stop at a gas station turned into a life-changing decision for Anmore’s Bernard Scrivener, who also picked up two Set for Life tickets, one of which was worth $675,000.

“It feels incredible to be a winner,” he said after claiming his prize through BCLC’s alternate prize-claim process

Scrivener purchased the winning ticket at the Petro-Canada on Johnson Street in Coquitlam while grabbing a snack for his son, whose football practice had been rained out. The Anmore dad said he likes to play Set of Life for a “bit of excitement.”

Once back at home, he said the first line he scratched revealed the game’s top prize, so he drove straight back to the same Petro-Canada to scan his ticket.

“It was a pleasant surprise,” he said.

As for celebrating, Scrivener said he fulfilled a lifelong dream and purchased a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500; he plans to save the rest.
