Saanichton Winners

Joseph Horne dropped to his knees and burst out with laughter upon checking he and his wife’s Set for Life ticket and finding out they were $675,000 richer.

The Saanichton couple purchased the ticket from Royal Oak Country Grocer and was at home when Horne scratched it and discovered the good news.

“I started scratching and recall thinking it was teasing me with all doubles,” Horne explained. “I got to the sixth game, took a breather… held my breath, and that’s when I got three matches!”

Sheila Thomas, shocked to see her husband on his knees laughing, naturally asked what happened.

“He said there were three matches and I said ‘no way,’” Thomas explained. “I used my BCLC Lotto! app to check it, heard the winning music, and ran upstairs to tell my mom while screaming ‘We are set for life!’”

Horne, a landscaper, plans to purchase a lawnmower for work with some of the prize and also wants to build a lacrosse box in the community. Thomas looks forward to purchasing a bigger vehicle.

On how it feels to be winners? “I feel so happy,” Thomas exclaimed. “Amazed,” added Horne.
