William Northcott has been roller-skating for the past 30 years and is spinning faster than ever thanks to winning $500,000 during the October 28, 2021 Daily Grand Bonus Draw.
The Surrey resident purchased his ticket at the Circle K Store on King George Highway and was at the same store when he decided to check it.
“I just put it through the machine and thought, ‘something is up,’” he recalled. “So I gave it to the retailer and he checked it on his machine and it locked up and everyone went crazy.”
Northcott said his win created a whirl of excitement at the Circle K.
“We were high-fiving and cheering together! I first thought, ‘Wow, this is surreal. This is a lot of money.’”
Northcott matched 5/5 numbers to win one of the bonus draws for $25,000 a year for life and selected the $500,000 Daily Grand lump-sum prize.
He says he plans on using some of his winnings to take a train ride from Surrey to Toronto as he prefers that mode of transportation over flying. He notes this win will also mean a slightly earlier retirement, during which he’s looking forward to spending more time with his grandson.
