Lorenzo and Maria Urbano were both shaking with excitement after realizing they won $100,000 from the December 23, 2020 Lotto 6/49 draw.
The Burnaby couple purchased the tickets at Shefield Express inside Metrotown Centre Mall. The two were shopping when they decided to check them at the lottery retailer.
“I didn’t really have a good look at the scanner so I told my wife right away,” Lorenzo recalled.
“At first I thought he was joking so we checked the ticket again, said Maria. “I pulled him aside and told him it wasn’t $10,000, but $100,000! “My first thought was holy smokes!”
The Urbano’s shared the news right away with their daughter, who’s teaching overseas. They plan to wait to tell anyone else as they want to surprise the rest of their family.
The Urbano’s plan to share some of their prize with their family and want to give back to their church as well.
