A group of eleven Surrey co-workers was in disbelief recently after discovering it had won $32,700.70 from the February 6, 2021 Lotto 6/49 draw.
Group captain and Surrey resident Jerica Thomas purchased the group’s ticket from Circle K Convenience Store on 152nd Street and was at work when she decided to check it on her BCLC Lotto! app.
“On the Saturday, I saw that someone had won $32,700,” she recalled. “On the Tuesday, I pulled out the ticket and scanned it on my BCLC Lotto! app. I wasn’t paying attention since a co-worker was talking to me at the time and when I looked down, I saw that we had won!”
Thomas shared the news with everyone in the group, who were all in disbelief. “No one believed me! They all said ‘no way’, so I started to scan my ticket for everyone.”
Thomas says the win feels great, and added “When this happened I thought to myself ‘OMG it actually happened!’”
Lottery players who are part of a group should always appoint someone to coordinate collecting participant’s money, buying the group’s tickets, tracking group winnings and posting results. When purchasing as a group, it's always a good idea to have a record of which group members have contributed to the ticket purchases. BCLC has a Group Play Agreement Form on bclc.com to make it easier to manage group play.
