Emmett O’Hara hit the mother “load” when he scratched three identical cash symbols on a Set for Life Scratch & Win ticket, netting him $675,000.

The Vancouver resident was gifted the ticket from a moving company after using its services, and was doing laundry with his boyfriend when he remembered he had a ticket to scratch.

“My boyfriend scratched the ticket and for a moment there was silence,” he recalled. “He was in complete shock. He showed me the ticket and I couldn't believe it.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Real Canadian Superstore on Marine Drive and then gifted to O’Hara, who enjoys playing games with Quick Pick when he purchases them himself.

O’Hara immediately checked the ticket on his BCLC Lotto! app, which revealed he was in fact a winner.

“It feels crazy unreal. I’m still in shock,” he said.

As for what he plans to do with his prize, O’Hara has a few ideas, including potentially going back to school as well as purchasing a home.
