Alvin Deo was thrilled to tell his colleagues that they won $1 million from the October 14, 2022 Lotto Max draw.
“I was at home when I found out we won using the Lotto! App and I was surprised by the number of zeroes that popped up,” recalled Deo. “Then I let my group know and many were in disbelief.”
Deo and his group of 27 colleagues from Victoria have purchased lottery tickets for close to five years and hope to celebrate the win together soon.
On how it feels to win the lottery?
“Surprising! It will be a nice gift for everyone in our group to do some fun things.”
Deo purchased the winning ticket at Peninsula Co-op on Wale Road in Victoria.
When playing the lottery with family, friends or co-workers, it’s important to take some steps that will help avoid any misunderstandings. BCLC recommends that groups appoint someone as a captain to coordinate collecting participants' money, buying the group's ticket(s), tracking group winnings and posting results.
When a ticket is purchased in a retail location, the group captain should print their name on the front or back, along with the words “In Trust” to indicate the ticket belongs to a group.
