The decision to treat herself to a BCLC Scratch & Win ticket certainly paid off for Cindy Petroczi as she ended up winning Treasure Tree’s top prize of $125,000.
The Merritt resident purchased and checked her ticket at Walmart on Crawford Avenue and was taken aback when she discovered she won big.
“I decided to treat myself to a ticket and was at the store and thought, ‘Holy crap is this real,’”? she recalled.
Petroczi immediately called her husband to share the exciting news.
“I was in tears when I called him. I couldn’t believe it. Then he asked if I needed an escort home,” she said.
Petroczi was one of the Merritt residents impacted by the recent flooding and said some of her prize will go toward replacing items that were lost and helping her family. She also plans to have some fun with part of her win and looks forward to taking a vacation.
“I’m so grateful and thankful! This will be so nice after losing things in the flood,” she said.
