Adams Lake Indian Band hosts B.C’s newest community gaming centre

BCLC is proud to announce the opening of Chances Salmon Arm, in collaboration with Berezan Management and the Adams Lake Indian Band. Chances Salmon Arm will officially open its doors to players on July 20.

The new facility is located at 384 Trans-Canada Hwy, on Adams Lake Indian Band (ALIB) land, making them the fourth First Nations band to in B.C. to host a gaming facility. The opening of Chances Salmon Arm presents an exciting opportunity for economic development for the ALIB, as BCLC projects revenues around $7.7 million for the first full year of operation. As a Host Local Government, the ALIB will receive 10 percent of the Province’s net income generated by the gaming centre.

In addition to revenue generation, Chances Salmon Arm is creating new employment opportunities for 85 people, including a number who are members of the ALIB.

The 22,000 square foot facility features 99 slot machines, one electronic blackjack machine and 124 electronic and 24 paper bingo seats on a spacious 9,000 square foot gaming floor. Amenities will include banquet and meeting space which will be available for conferences and community events.

Chances Salmon Arm replaces the Fairweather Bingo Hall, which was located in Vernon.

Quick Facts:

  • Community gaming centres offer traditional paper-based bingo and electronic bingo, in addition to a selection of other games that may include slot machines, Keno, a variety of lottery products, and off-track horse betting (teletheatres).
  • Three other B.C. First Nations host casinos or community gaming centres on their land, and in 2015 they received a combined $2.1 million in host local government payments, their share of provincial gaming dollars from those facilities.
  • Private sector service providers operate gaming facilities on behalf of BCLC. Berezan Management is the service provider for Chances Salmon Arm. To learn more about Chances Salmon Arm please visit Berezan Developments

“BCLC is proud to work with our service provider, Berezan Management, and the Host Local Government, the Adams Lake Indian Band, to develop our newest gaming facility. People can look forward to a wide range of exciting games and outstanding food and beverage options in a casual dining setting. This venture is a great example of three partners bringing new entertainment for adults to enjoy which in turn will benefit the surrounding community of Salmon Arm and the Province as a whole.”

Chief Robin Billy, Adams Lake Indian Band
“I see the relationship with BCLC and the Berezan Group as an opportunity for further economic growth and development for the Adams Lake economy. Not only will Chances Salmon Arm provide us with additional revenue, it has also created numerous employment opportunities for our community.”
