FBI-Recognized Cyber Security Expert Shares Stories From The Trenches During Technology and Innovation Speakers Series

A B.C. cyber security expert recognized by the FBI for bringing down one of the largest networks of hijacked computers ever uncovered will share his cybercrime insights as part of the upcoming Technology and Innovation Speakers Series.

Hosted by BCLC and Thompson Rivers University (TRU), the latest edition of the Speaker Series on January 31 and features keynote speaker Chris Davis, CEO and founder of HYAS information-security firm.

Davis is not the average CEO.

He is an award-winning information-security researcher, analyst and entrepreneur who has spearheaded cyber intelligence strategies and helped law enforcement agencies tear down cybercriminal networks. He is the only Canadian and one of few non-employees to receive the FBI Director’s Award of Excellence, for his forensic research and effective takedown of the Mariposa botnet: one of the world’s largest malware schemes that overtook more than 15 million computers worldwide in 2009. That work also earned Davis the Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit’s Global Hero Award.

Davis will share his experiences combating the war on cybercrime and provide practical tips on how to protect against cybersecurity threats.
