Lotto 6/49 winner is set to travel the world02/02/2015
Anna Kornberger is already planning her life of travel after becoming a guaranteed millionaire on the night of the January 28th Lotto 6/49 draw.
The day after the draw, Kornberger decided to stop in at the gas station to check her tickets at the Check-A-Ticket machine. When the jackpot flashed across the screen, she was in for the shock of her life.
“I thought I needed my glasses because there were so many numbers,” Kornberger exclaimed. “Once I realized what those numbers said, I was in so much shock. This was one of the best days of my life.”
After she had recovered from the initial disbelief of what happened, Kornberger rushed home to deliver the news to her husband.
“I went straight home to tell him I won the lottery and that I was going to take him on a cruise,” she recalled. “We will be doing a lot of travelling now.”
Kornberger plans to start her travel journey this month, but not before taking her children and grandchildren out for dinner to share the good news.
Kornberger won $1 million on the Guaranteed Prize Draw. Aside from her travel plans, the Port Coquitlam resident plans to use her winnings to buy a new car.
The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart in Freemont Village in Port Coquitlam.
A major win from the March 14, 2014 Lotto Max draw has yet to be claimed; a $50 million ticket sold in Langley, B.C. remains unclaimed and ties the largest prize ever won in B.C.
Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 6 p.m. (PT). Players can purchase tickets at their favourite lottery retailer or at PlayNow.com.
