Roberts Creek residents win a Lotto 6/49 “Guaranteed” prize23/12/2014
Chris Mantel and Keith Miller from Roberts Creek are B.C.’s latest millionaires after winning the “Guaranteed” prize on the December 20th draw.
The two winners are long-time friends and have been playing the lottery together for nine years, but they almost stopped after they hadn’t won anything in a while.
“I guess it was a good thing we didn’t,” joked Chris. “We started playing together to be cost effective, but it’s also just a nice thing to do together.”
Keith and Chris and their wives are still making plans for what to do with the money, but the two friends are already dreaming of what those plans might entail.
Keith, who was retired but went back to work, is now looking forward to once again putting in his notice.
“I didn’t believe it until it was validated – I thought Chris was pulling my leg,” said Keith. “I guess I can quit my job now and actually retire.”
Chris, on the other hand, has some travel plans on his mind, including a possible trip to Europe.
“It’s always been on my bucket list to go to Barcelona, and now I can go,” he said.
The winning ticket was purchased at the London Drugs on 66 Ave. in Langley and was checked at a convenience store in Horseshoe Bay.
