Kathleen McBride won $2,000,000 playing BC49

“We immediately called all our friends to come down and celebrate with us,” laughed McBride. “And we had a party!”

The winning ticket was sold at Panorama Market in North Vancouver’s Deep Cove.

“You’re in such shock,” explained McBride. “I remember putting the ticket in the self-checker over and over before I called my husband over. That was when I began to cry. But they were tears of happiness.”

McBride does not have any immediate plans for the prize beyond sharing with family.

“This is going to change my life,” smiled McBride. “But I’m going to take some time before making any decisions.”

BC/49 is a B.C.-only lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays that gives players a chance to win up to $2 million for $1. Tickets can be purchased at a BCLC lottery retailer or
