Weather forecast helps Langley man win $9 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot

A Langley resident is feeling richer after collecting his massive lottery prize. Keith Best “had a feeling” about his tickets when he discovered the $9,225,610.30 jackpot win from the September 10, 2014, Lotto 6/49 draw.

Best plays his own numbers and admits he chooses them based on weather temperatures at his favourite destinations and important personal dates.

“I try to pick numbers logically, but these just jumped out at me,” described Best. “I first checked them at home in the paper and then went to the store to have the ticket validated. That’s when it became real.”

Best says he has big plans for the prize. “First thing I will do is buy a new car and then I’m going to restore an old car. After that I plan to share with family and take off on an extended vacation.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Safeway on 200th Street in Langley, B.C.

This is the second major jackpot won on tickets sold in Langley. BCLC is still waiting for another winner to come forward on a ticket worth $50 million sold for the March 14, 2014 Lotto Max draw. When the winner claims their prize it will tie the largest jackpot ever awarded in B.C.

Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Players can purchase tickets at any lottery retailer or at until 6 p.m. (PT).
