Vancouver’s Gazaleh and Randy Tobias are planning some big purchases after matching all seven numbers and winning a $1 million Maxmillion prize from the Lotto Max draw on May 25, 2018.

Like many other big winners, the pair initially did not believe they had a $1 million winning ticket. After downloading the BCLC Lotto! app to the check winning numbers, the pair still had to check several times, before reality sank in. “I thought the app was broken,” laughed Gazaleh. “I saw a million dollars on the screen and I thought it was a joke!”

“We’re finally going to buy a house and get the kids a dog,” added Randy. “And, I really want a new car.”

“I’ve wanted a Chanel purse for years and years so I am finally going to buy one,” said Gazaleh. “Chanel is always the right decision!”

The couple’s new financial windfall also means saving for its two children’s future, sharing with family and having a “proper celebration” in Mexico.

The Tobias’ purchased their winning ticket at a lottery kiosk in Oakridge Centre.

This week’s record-breaking Lotto Max jackpot is estimated at $60 million with an estimated 50 additional MAXMILLION prizes of $1 million. Tickets can be purchased at any BCLC lottery retailer or on until 7:30 p.m. (PST) every Friday evening.
