Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch

To regulate all gambling in British Columbia, ensure the integrity of gambling industry companies, people and equipment and investigate allegations of wrongdoing.

Responsible Gambling Strategy

To promote responsible gambling through public awareness and education, treatment and prevention, research, training, evaluation and policy development. BCLC also dedicates a portion of its budget to advance its player health programs that encourage healthy play and improve the safety of products, environments and service for our players.

To distribute a seven percent entitlement of gambling revenue to First Nations governments throughout the Province of B.C. as part of the Province’s commitment to reconciliation.

Spread the Local Love

As we saw the effects that the COVID-19 pandemic had across our province, BCLC remained committed to supporting communities throughout B.C. For two weeks in February 2021, BCLC teamed up with 10 charitable organizations to launch a unique online fundraising experience, “Spread the Local Love”. The campaign supported local businesses and charitable organizations in municipalities across the province.

Victoria Hospitals Foundation

BCLC was proud to support Victoria Hospitals Foundation’s 2020 Visionary initiative, a unique campaign held in lieu of the annual Visions Gala fundraiser, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. BCLC has proudly supported the Victoria Hospitals Foundation and the Vancouver Island communities since 1991 and the Visions Gala since 2016.

Kamloops Symphony Orchestra

In December 2021, BCLC presented the virtual broadcast of the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra’s annual “Christmas with the KSO” concert. BCLC has been proudly supporting the arts community in Kamloops since 1985.

Our operations span the entirety of the province that we now call British Columbia. We respectfully acknowledge that we are guests in the territories of more than 200 First Nations, each with unique traditions, cultures, and histories. We are grateful to these First Nations caretakers for their stewardship of these lands and waters since time immemorial.

BCLC is committed to establishing and maintaining good relations with all First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people in British Columbia and beyond. Our journey has only recently begun, and we have a lot of work to do in collaboration with Indigenous Peoples to understand the Truth, reconcile the past, and truly generate win-wins for the greater good, together.
