Social Responsibility Charter

Our SR Charter outlines BCLC’s commitments to Player, People, Public and Profit.

Our Approach

BCLC was created to have a positive impact on British Columbia. In the nearly three decades we've been in business, we've been working hard to live up to our promise. So far we've put more than $14.2 billion back into the economy for health care, education and charities.

We give players the tools to make informed choices about their play. We generate jobs for tens of thousands of British Columbians. We reach out to communities and we are being mindful of the impact our business has on the environment.

Our Social Purpose

The Government of British Columbia  founded BCLC more than 30 years ago with the purpose of giving back to the citizens of BC  and helping communities grow. Since 1985, our players have helped invest $19 billon in health care, education and community programs, as $0.88 of every dollar goes back into the Province.

Today, this “social purpose” continues to guide our business activities while we strive to be a leading corporate citizen and reduce gambling-related harm. Being a good corporate citizen means giving players the tools to make informed choices about our games, reaching out to communities to understand their diverse perspectives, minimizing our impact on the environment and generating jobs for tens of thousands of British Columbians.
