“I Was in Disbelief!”: Surrey Resident Wins $500,000 from Extra

Pushpjeet Gill thought it was an error on the BCLC Lotto! App when he discovered he won a $500,000 Extra prize from the August 26, 2024 Daily Grand draw. 

“I was at home checking some of my tickets,” recalled Gill. “I was in disbelief – I was so scared it was an error on the app. I had to check a couple of times!” 

The Surrey resident was most excited to share the news with his wife first. “She was also in disbelief and then excited!” 

Gill is “still in the disbelief phase” but plans to buy a home in the future and will use some of his winnings toward a down payment. 

On how it feels to win? 

“This is the happiest I have ever been. I will be celebrating for sure, but not sure how yet!” 

Gill purchased the winning ticket at 7-Eleven on 120 Street and 64 Avenue in Surrey.
