It’s a good thing Paul Masters remembered to check his lottery ticket after letting it sit in his wallet for a few weeks – it scored him $1 million from the August 16, 2024 Lotto Max draw.

“I was in the grocery store and had a few tickets in my wallet,” recalled Masters. “My first ticket won $1, second ticket was $20, which was exciting, and then I checked the third ticket which had a lot of zeroes. I checked again and put the ticket in a safety deposit box right away!”

After checking his tickets, the Sidney resident was excited to share the news with his good friend he’s known since high school.

“He was very happy for me!”

The music lover likes to play with synthesizers in his spare time and plans to continue to work with audio. He’d also like to travel.

“I haven’t been to Japan yet and would like to visit!”

On how it feels to win $1 million?

“I’m not concerned about retiring! I am currently looking after my mom and don’t have any concerns to make sure she is well cared for.”

Masters purchased the winning ticket at Shoppers Drug Mart on Beacon Avenue in Sidney.
