Shelley Loeffen initially thought she was dreaming when she discovered she’d won $150,000 – the top prize from BCLC’s Crossword Extreme Scratch & Win ticket.
“At first, I was in denial and didn’t know if I should believe it. I thought it was a dream,” Loeffen recalled of the moment she discovered her win.
She was delighted to eventually realize that she was not dreaming, and that her real dream of visiting Holland would soon become a reality.
The Nanaimo resident was motivated to purchase her ticket in memory of a dear friend who passed away. “It was her favourite and I purchased it to honour her.”
Loeffen first shared the news of her win with her family and friends. “They were all shocked and so happy!”
Loeffen has a few initial plans for her prize, including visiting Holland, a place she’s “always dreamed of going to” and investing in a new home.
The winning ticket was purchased from Woodgrove Centre on Island Highway in Nanaimo.
