Page Organization

Understanding Page Hierarchy (Levels)

Similar to how files are organized in folders on a computer, pages in AEM are classified as levels. Each level serves as a funnel to go deeper into the site (another level). In other words, each level can be thought of as a “folder” within the site structure.

An example of this is the Customer Support page (L1). From there, you can go deeper into FAQ (L2), and then into Lottery (L3). The end result is a Lottery (L3) / FAQ Page (L2)  in Customer Support (L1).

In the column view within AEM, this can easily been seen through the diagram above.

Note: Pages like the “Overview” may show up in L2. This is normal and is how the BCLC Corporate site has been configured. For all intents and purposes, these Overview type pages are considered to be L1’s.

Managing Page Structure

Pages within BCLC Corporate should already be all defined. If page edits need to be made, please note the following:

  • L1 type pages may affect the site navigation, these should be cautiously added, edited or removed
  • L2 type pages affect the dropdown menu within the site navigation, these should be cautiously added, edited or removed
  • L3+ type pages do not affect site navigation

L1 Overview type pages are a way to see what information is available within a section at a glance. The corporate site contains the following L1 overview type pages:

  • Homepage - Main landing page for both new and returning users
  • Player Health - Includes information on player health, available programs, etc.
  • Community Benefits - Includes information on community impacts, gaming funds and sponsorships
  • Alerts - Used to provide special messages to users on the homepage (includes topics such as COVID-19 or amber alerts)
  • Careers - Used to showcase work culture at BCLC and direct applicants to job postings
  • Customer Support - Providing a place for users to find help with questions or requests
  • Media – Resource for news and factual information
