Spirit of Coquitlam Grant Program

In 2024, the City of Coquitlam used a portion of its share of provincial gambling revenue generated at Great Canadian Casino Vancouver to support local non-profit and community-based organizations through the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant program. This program provided funding for events, equipment purchases, capital projects, and support programs. Examples from 2024 include support for the Minto Cup National Lacrosse Championship, a YMCA BC summer pilot program for at-risk youth in local schools, and the purchase of outdoor equipment for youth programs by les Scouts Francophones de Maillardville.

In addition to the grant program, Coquitlam allocated gambling revenue to support road safety and sidewalk improvement projects. In 2024, this included work along Thomas Avenue, upgrades at the Westwood Street and Lincoln Avenue intersection, and sidewalk improvements along Draycott Street, Haversley Avenue, and Cornell Avenue. These projects are part of annual infrastructure programs focused on pedestrian routes near schools, parks, and transit access points.

In 2024, BCLC sponsored the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation’s 31st Annual Evening of Caring Gala, held at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Themed “Once Upon a Time,” the event brought together community members and supporters to raise funds for healthcare in the Tri-Cities, Belcarra, and Anmore. Proceeds from the gala support the ongoing efforts of Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation to enhance patient care and access to medical services in the region.
