Player health

BCLC envisions a future in which our players demonstrate the safest gambling behaviours in the world.

We prioritize our players’ well-being in everything we do and are developing new and innovative strategies for safer gambling experiences.

GameSense

When gaming stops being fun, help and resources are available. BCLC’s GameSense program encourages healthy gambling behaviours by giving players the tools needed to make informed choices. The program and its focus on proactive player education have been adopted by jurisdictions around the world. It's considered an innovative, industry-leading approach to responsible gaming and player health.

Game Break

The Game Break voluntary self-exclusion program is a way for BCLC to help players honour their decision to take a break from gambling. Taking the first step to take a break can be a difficult, but important one for individuals who no longer enjoy gambling and need help. Those who enroll in the program can choose a period of time to exclude themselves from all gaming facilities with slot machines, commercial bingo halls and online through PlayNow.com, BC Lotto! App, and PlayNow BC Sports App.

BCLC's new Game Plan course aims to help individuals reinstate once their Game Break voluntary self-exclusion term is complete, if they feel that returning to play is right for them.

GameSense Licensing

BCLC established the GameSense licensing program to work in partnership with other North American gambling organizations by sharing information and leveraging research to make gambling safer for players everywhere. The program, built from player health awareness and education, aims to be a turn-key solution for our partners.

Together, BCLC and the GameSense partners engage with industry experts, researchers and key stakeholders to advance existing programs, explore new research, results and opportunities, and to keep up with developments in the field that support responsible growth of the industry.
