What we do

BCLC conducts and manages commercial lottery, casino, sports and bingo gambling through online and land-based distribution channels across B.C. Revenue from our business activities stays in the province to help build and benefit communities.

The Province of B.C. established BCLC as a Crown corporation in 1985  to conduct and manage commercial gambling, and we do so in a socially responsible manner for the benefit of all British Columbians.

Lottery

Each year, BCLC celebrates new millionaires right across our province. Our retail partners are key to our success, with approximately 3,400 retail locations in B.C. that sell lottery and sports-betting products. Lottery sales are the largest contributor to the net income that goes back to the Province of B.C. to help support health care, education and community programs .

Casinos

B.C. has 36 casinos and community gaming centres in 33 communities in the province. These facilities include everything from slots to table games to restaurants and concert venues. Municipal and First Nations governments in B.C. that host a gambling facility in their community typically receive a 10 percent share of net gambling income generated in that facility to help support local programs and initiatives in their communities. Each casino has player-health specialists—known as GameSense Advisors—to help educate curious players, assist with support and referral services and provide training to casino staff on player health principles.

Sports and iGaming

Since 1991, BCLC has offered local, legal and secure sports betting in B.C. Adults can take part in sports betting both in-person, with PROLINE—our digital retail sportsbook—or online with PlayNow Sports. BCLC also integrates our award-winning player-health programs into our products to help support our players to make informed decisions. Our online playbook has dedicated player-health specialists—known as GameSense Advisors—available via phone and live chat.

Security and Anti-Money Laundering

At BCLC, we are committed to safeguarding the industry against criminal activity and money laundering. We consistently invest in our platforms to enhance player security and work with partners to evolve programs to combat money laundering and help keep communities safe.

Doing business with us

BCLC does business with many organizations across British Columbia. We also license our programs, like PlayNow and GameSense, to other gambling jurisdictions within North America. We source goods and services through qualified suppliers using transparent, equitable, fair and ethical bidding processes. As a social purpose organization, we also integrate sustainability into our procurement process and include specific questions in our requests for proposals that align with our goal to exceed the industry benchmark for sustainable procurement.
