Canada’s regulated online gambling network has reached a milestone with BCLC-powered PlayNow.com launching in Manitoba.
Today, Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries officially unveiled gambling for online players in that province.
Manitobans who register on the site can now access the latest sports betting, casino and poker games through their own provincially regulated online gambling website. In April 2012, Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries had identified BCLC’s online model as the best choice for regulated online gambling in Manitoba.
BCLC has provided regulated online gambling to British Columbians through PlayNow.com since 2004. In 2010, BCLC began offering online casino games to players and in 2011, together with Loto-Quebec, began offering peer-to-peer poker on a shared network. Last year, PlayNow.com generated $66 million in revenue in B.C. and posted 53 per cent growth.
The newly launched site is provided by BCLC and is based on British Columbia’s successful PlayNow.com business model, with many of the same games, responsible gambling tools and a shared poker network.
Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries will also feature GameSense, BCLC’s award-winning education tools to assist players with making informed choices about gambling. GameSense balances the fun element of play with a reminder to stay within one’s boundaries when participating in any games of chance. GameSense information is accessible online and will soon also be available in casinos in Manitoba.
Revenue from this initiative will be reinvested into communities instead of leaving the provinces through grey market sites. For information on the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries announcement, visit https://www.mbll.ca/
