On April 1, 2019, BCLC will conclude its Expression of Interest (EOI) process to seek a potential new gambling and entertainment facility on the North Shore of Metro Vancouver.

BCLC based its decision on an extensive evaluation that assessed a number of factors, including population trends, existing community policies and land availability. Dialogue to date with interested local governments indicate that the placement of a gambling facility in the region is not achievable at this time.

BCLC initiated its EOI process on the North Shore in June 2016 and invited five municipal and First Nations governments there to express interest in hosting a potential gambling and entertainment facility.

The City of North Vancouver and the Tsleil-Waututh Nation responded to BCLC with interest, while the Squamish Nation declined to respond at the time. The District of North Vancouver and the District of West Vancouver declined.

BCLC may re-introduce an EOI process on the North Shore in the future should new opportunities present themselves in the region.
