BCLC has appointed a new Vice President of Social Purpose & Stakeholder Engagement to strengthen its long-standing commitment to corporate social responsibility. Peter ter Weeme will commence in the role effective February 10, 2020, working from BCLC’s Vancouver office until moving to its Kamloops head office permanently in summer 2020.
“We are thrilled to welcome Peter ter Weeme to BCLC, where his demonstrated experience will help strengthen our organization’s work to offer great gambling – and greater good,” said Greg Moore, BCLC Interim President and CEO. “As a 25-year veteran of the sustainability, social purpose and social justice movements, Peter is well positioned to lead BCLC in defining a new social purpose, while furthering our relationships with valued stakeholders across the province and industry overall.”
With an MBA specializing in environmental management, Mr. ter Weeme’s professional experience spans the world of corporate, government and non-profit clients in North America, Europe and Asia. He has advised companies and organizations on a range of values-based issues and developed various campaigns and initiatives focused around issues such as climate action, conservation, public health, and diversity and inclusion.
Most recently, Mr. ter Weeme was the Executive Vice President of Purpose and Brand Citizenship for Elevator Strategy, a Vancouver-based marketing and communications firm. Prior, he founded and grew two successful consultancies and led the marketing and communications at Mountain Equipment Co-op.

BCLC is actively recruiting to fill remaining executive vacancies, including for a Vice President, Compliance, Legal & Security & Chief Compliance Officer; and Vice President, People & Culture. BCLC will continue to have an executive complement at both its Vancouver and Kamloops offices that remains consistent.
