A Letter to Our Players: Enhanced GameSense Advisor Supports

11/05/2020

The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives. Many of us continue to feel the effects of these changes in our daily routines, missing the everyday exchanges with our friends and colleagues. Despite these challenges, BCLC remains as committed as ever to supporting the health and wellbeing of our players and communities.

While B.C. casinos and community gaming centres remain temporarily closed in light of COVID-19, our BCLC GameSense Advisors are still committed to supporting players who enjoy our lottery, casino and PlayNow.com products.

To make it easier for you to access resources that help gambling stay fun and safe during these challenging times, GameSense Advisors are now available via telephone at 1-866-815-0222, and online chat on PlayNow.com from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. PST.

Those of you who have visited B.C.’s casinos or community gaming centres are likely familiar with our GameSense Advisors, who staff GameSense Information Centres. They are a friendly presence there to help you understand how the games work, to make informed choices about gambling and to keep your play positive. GameSense Advisors are excellent listeners and, if needed, can help connect players to available support resources if they feel they need help.

The B.C. Government, through its Responsible and Problem Gambling Program, shares in our commitment to support your wellbeing and offers a number of additional education and support services, including a problem-gambling 24-Hour Help Line.

For 35 years, players have supported BCLC in delivering gambling revenue to the Province of B.C. to help fund healthcare, education and other important community programs. Today more than ever, we want you to know that we are here to support you, too.

Sincerely,
Jamie Wiebe, Ph.D.
