Roueintan Avali stopped in his tracks when he realized he won the $500,000 Extra prize from the March 1, 2024 Lotto Max draw.
“I was at Shoppers Drug Mart, checking my tickets,” recalled Avali of the moment he realized he won. “This was the last ticket in my pile. I couldn’t believe it, I had to check again!”
The Coquitlam resident first shared the news with his mother. “I called her and she was shocked, I had to repeat it twice to her.”
Avali – who enjoys soccer, swimming and hiking in his spare time – is taking time to decide how to spend his winnings, but he does plan to travel.

“Happy. I’m able to focus on financial security for the future.”
Avali purchased the winning ticket at the Circle K on Hastings Street and Holdom Avenue in Burnaby.
