Hung-Chieh Chou can retire earlier than he expected, after winning $1 million from the November 13, 2024 Lotto 6/49 draw.
“I was sitting in my car and used the BCLC Lotto! App,” recalled Chou of the moment he scanned his ticket and realized he won. “I thought that it was a lot of zeroes!”
The Surrey resident was most excited to share the news with his wife. “She said, ‘Are you sure?’ She was excited to know it was a real win.”
Chou will celebrate by having a big dinner. He also hopes to retire early and plans to pay off his mortgage.
“It’s incredible. I feel blessed.”
Chou purchased the winning ticket at Century Books on 100 Avenue and 153 Street in Surrey.
So far in 2024, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $140 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
