“I Thought Something Was Wrong with the Machine!”: Vancouver Resident Wins $1 Million from Lotto Max

Bin Wei thought something had gone wrong with the ticket self-checker, after she checked her ticket and found out that she won $1 million from the August 13, 2024 Lotto Max draw. 

“I was shopping, and I checked [my ticket] on a self-checker,” recalled Wei of the moment she realized she won. “I thought something was wrong with the machine!” 

The Vancouver resident plans to use her winnings to pay off her mortgage. She also mentioned she is busy with work so this win will give her more time to rest and catch up on her sleep.  

On how it feels to win? 

“It’s very good!”  

Wei purchased the winning ticket at Real Canadian Superstore on Grandview Highway and Rupert Street in Vancouver. 

So far in 2024, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $100 million from Lotto Max. Lotto Max is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays after 7:30 p.m. (PST).
