The third time was the charm for Roland Schindel as he triple-checked the numbers on his Lotto Max ticket from the September 17, 2024 draw, which revealed that he won a stunning $1,000,000 prize.
The Kamloops resident was at home looking up the winning numbers on lotto.bclc.com when he discovered that his Quick Pick numbers matched those of a Maxmillions prize.
“My first thought was, ‘It must be a mistake!’ I checked it over three times before I called my wife over to double-check the numbers,” he recalled.
Schindel’s wife was equally shocked over the news.
“She didn’t believe me even after she read the numbers online,” said Schindel.
The newly minted millionaire plans to put a portion of his prize towards re-paving his driveway, and looks forward to helping his kids and grandkids with his win.
“This lets me help my family,” he said. “It’s unreal!”
Schindel purchased the winning ticket at Super Save Gas on Westsyde Road in Kamloops.
